If you dont have it done, I would imagine that you would have difficulty bending stretching and lying on a creeper under cars. Dont leave the decision until the pain level is present when you rest. I have seen some very active post op adults. Good luck.
I am living in Nagoya Japan, went to 2 hospitals explaining upper thigh stiffness and pain. X-rayed and did MRI on my spine and told me to go stretch my soft tissue. Been in pain for 2 years. Went to another hospital, the 70 yr old doc told me it was a hipjoint and referred me to university hospital,who told me to come back when the pain affects my daily life. Two valuable lessons Doctors are not always right and never ignore pain.

I have this Hip problem. I am 28 years old. My doctor told me that if i had this operation at this age, i’ll have to do this same operation every 10 years, because, in this age, my leg bones will be very active. and if i do this operatin at the age of 40, then it will bbe fine.
Is it True? And Please also tell me, this thing “Prostheses”, How much is it stronger? Would i be able to learn martial arts, can do racing, etc stuff?
u might need a higher shoe in that place
when i was 17 i was knocked off my scooter i lost my full left knee and full left hip smashed
i had my left leg shorted than my right leg by 3 and half inches
i had hip operation privatly by the guys insurance company who knocked me off
£18000 it was and took 5 days to be underknife and out of hospital
i would say for to be of your crutches it would take around 3 months to be sure
take it slowly increasin weight.flexability will also comes back alot more once swelling has started to go

Hiya, i just had a THR on the 9th June,this year,(they also lenthened my leg at same time) im home walking round and stuff,im on crutches for atleast 6 weeks.its slow recovery,but it was complex surgery.
This Happened to my Aunt
She Had Her Hip hunt very badly and she needed it replaced
After the surgery she was very active then after 4 weeks she went back to her house …..
She now can jog,walk, and Drive…I’m Happy to see her able to does things again
I have recently been told my left hip requires surgery,I’m 47yrs old and a motor mechanic. My worry is that I may not be able to continue my occupation if I have this done! can anyone tell me honestly how long the recovery period is and if full mobility returns? I am in a lot of pain now but am trying to hold out as long as possible before commiting to surgery.

The surgery was a failure and you need to get a lawyer. Also (and more importantly) you need to make an appointment with a surgeon who does the anterior approach to THR.
I received a hip revision after the 1st one done in1981 worn out, and after 4 months rest I’m able to go back to my labor demanding job requiring long hours of standing,pacing and occasionally lifting. Although there are few occasions of discomfort and pain possibly caused either by excess gym exercise or prolong pacing, I have never been walking on cane . You are only 32 yrs and should have recovered much better and faster than me; I was 47 when the hip revision was done in 2003.
i recieved a hip replacement on april 15 2008 an also a bone graft its been one year an i still hurt constently but everything is healed i was on crutches for over six months an still on a cane but there is alot of days i cant even move my leg cause it hurts so bad can any one tell me what is going on i am desperate for answers cause my surgeon dont seem to care i am 32 years old

There was pain for couple of hours, if your doctor allow you to run that s mean you can, ever body has his situation in such operations,
But I am feeling so fine, and no more pain
How long were you in pain after the surgery and can you ever run or jog again.
About how long before the pain was gone after the surgery, and how much exercise could you do, has anyone ever been able to jog later on in life.

Go and see an orthopedic hip surgeon. You have to be reffered by your PCP. Then will they determine if a Hip Arthroplasty is warranted. This is usually determined by xrays and MR Arthrograms.
I just had a total left hip replacement 3 weeks ago, and I’m only 27 years old. I had severe osteoarthritis in the left acetabulum. I have severe hip displasia in both hips and are scheduled for the other side in three months. Be ready for pain. Should of did the spinal anethisia, instead of general. Surgery went perfect!
